My training schedule says that I’m supposed to be up to 9 hours a week. Last week I struggled to reach 7 hours and that has been my biggest week to date. This morning’s spin class (my second ever) nearly killed me! I definitely need a lot of bike time before the season starts. My longest rides last year were 90 Km at the two ½ Ironman races. I don’t think that I’ll be able to get away with that at Penticton!
I can’t believe it. Here I am in Victoria, +10C, slightly overcast but no rain and I think that it isn’t nice enough to ride outside. What a wimp! I remember getting up at 6:00AM on a Saturday to run with Angus at -30C. My friends in Calgary just shake their heads. The Y Tri group has been riding outside on Saturdays for the past 2 weeks. I think that it’s time that I joined them. I am getting in my 3 swims a week (about 5 to 6 KM). My conditioning must be improving but I don’t really notice it. Each swim is still an ordeal, especially the kick routines. I think that I mentioned last blog that I had received a pointer on improving my kick. The pointer is: sitting on your feet with toes pointed out. I have been doing that while watching TV for the past couple of weeks and my feet do seem to be much more flexible. I can now get the length of the pool with a flutter board. I’m still painfully slow but I don’t go backwards! I can’t wait til spring and lake swims when my wet suit will keep me afloat and all I have to do is pull myself through the water. Can you tell that the pull routines are my favourite part of the class.
Enough griping. It’s time to vacuum, do dishes, buy groceries and all of those other under employed husbandly duties.
I challenge the BC Real Estate Exam on March 5th so I guess that my retirement will soon be over. Wouldn’t life be great if we didn’t need money to survive!
Talk to you soon;
Bill
