Lost in Victoria - Again!
Feb 28, 2008
Another two run day and I sure did feel the 15 miles that I did on Tuesday. I ended up with a couple of small blisters so today’s runs were with aqua sox. My running friend Tom was telling me about Heart Rate Spikes at the start of a run and the fact that they are quite normal. Well, I set a new personal best(?) today – 185 for about 1.5 minutes. Since Cheryl got me the HR Monitor and Pedometer for my birthday, I watch them closer than a government employee watches a clock (sorry Cheryl and Tara) and I was getting worried about the high HRs. Being a boy, and not man enough to talk about stuff like that, I worried by myself.
I got lost again on the Y run. You wouldn’t think that there were enough streets in the downtown area of Victoria to get lost as many times as I have. I think that I may have gotten lost on the same streets a few times. It is a good thing than I am not into orienteering! Any way, my 45-minute run stretched to over an hour which made me late for the swim class so I decided not to go. I’m still happy that I managed to put in over 6 hours in 3 days.
My first tri comes up a week Sunday – The UBC Sprint. Us old guys start at 1:40 so I’m hoping to get on the 7:00AM ferry. The pool swim is in a 50-metre pool so I’ll have to get over to Commonwealth once or twice to get used to not being able to slow for a few extra breaths at the end of each 25 metres.
Tomorrow is a serious study day – 6 more sleeps until my Real Estate Exam.
Talk to you on Saturday after my Ride.
I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.
