Cool Swimming!
Well, I’m back to training again. My ear is still sore with about 50% hearing but seems to be getting better.
I managed 3 hours of training last week; 2hrs on the bike, 0.50hrs barefoot running and 0.50hrs in the lake.
I especially enjoyed the lake swim - Thetis Lake to the island and back. The water was surprisingly warm and, unlike Lake McKenzie in Calgary, there were no algae. I remember brother Ed and my first few swims in Lake McKenzie. There could be strings of algae five feet long dragging from you while swimming.
Another Eureka Moment: I have just been listening to a CBC interview where the woman being interviewed described herself as a finisher. (She likes to get things off of her desk) I guess, based on her descriptors, I would have to describe myself as a starter. Not a good self-impression for a triathlete (or anyone who is trying to achieve a goal). I will have to do something about this and working through periods of discomfort while training is a very important part. I don’t know if I had mentioned this before, I tend to slow down when ever I encounter discomfort or pain when I should be working my way through it (injuries excepted). Many people (my wife Cheryl among them) have told me that they had felt so much discomfort part way through a race that they went faster just to get rid of the pain sooner. That is a quality that I have not yet mastered.
Off to work.
Talk to you again soon;
Bill
