6 Sleeps till Shawnigan!

Wow, What a great week! I guess that a couple of weeks off with swimmers ear can help a body recover.
This week I was able to get out on the bike twice; 54Km with hills training on Wednesday and 90Km on Saturday with a new high avg. speed of +/- 27KMH. I finished both rides with 5Km barefoot runs. Tuesday was a 90 minute run - most barefoot. I was able to do 2 lake swims and 1 pool session. Last Sunday I shivered through 900M in Thetis and this Sunday I blazed through a 1.5Km swim around the big island in an amazing (for me) 33 minutes. (My good wife Cheryl timed me so I’m sure her results are accurate.) This is about 15 or more minutes faster that I’ve ever swum this distance before.
My first and probably only 1/2 till Ironman is this Sunday. I’ve managed just short of 10 hours training this week. I will taper next week with 1 short lake swim, a couple of 20Km rides and a few 5Km barefoot runs.
On Wednesday Bob, our Y bike / run leader, took a couple of us on a hill ride through Wedgwood Estates. After a couple of loops my legs were getting spongy and that’s when Bob told us that we can expect about 11Km of this at Richters. I’m sure that Richters is tough but the hill didn’t seen that hard (in my car) last summer. I guess that my only real option is to get to Penticton this summer and educate my body in the finer aspects of what Richters has in store for me in August.
Talk to you soon;
Bill
