Syl, Judith and I made plans to do our track WO at Oak Bay so we could hang around afterwards and watch the Annual Dave Smart Beer Mile that was scheduled that evening. The weather cooperated for our track wo which was lucky for us…it got ugly when the race started though…started to rain and it was cold…yuk! The WO was 2 sets of 5 x 600m at 2:03-2:05 pace with 90″ rests and a 3 minute rest between the two sets. After a few strides we started the wo. The 600s felt pretty good. I was feeling smooth tonight for some reason so I was happy about that. [2:06-2:04-2:00-2:03-2:04] [2:03-2:02-2:03-2:01-2:01]. It was a pretty fun run. Sylvan scooted over to Starbucks and got us all hot coffees to enjoy while we watched the race. LeRoo and I did our warm-down around the track waiting for the race to start…that’s when it started to rain. We got soaked but luckily I packed some dry clothes. I took a few shots which I will post later of the participants chugging beer. I found it brutal to watch. A few people looked pretty green by the time they got to the third lap. Don-Don and Baloney ran well but I’m not sure if they beat their current PB. Jim once again was a star and broke his own record setting a new WR of 5:09…wow.
Syl and I ended up going to Hugo’s downtown (cheap pizza night) and met a bunch of people there. The pizza was tasty…I was very hungry. We ordered fries too.. really healthy…and watched the hockey game.
