Did the 30 minute spin this morning before work. I had a singing lesson in the afternoon so I didn’t have to practice this morning. The lesson today went better than last week…slowly getting back on track.

I met Lis’ at the Starbuck’s that the 10-miler group meets in Broadmead before the run. It was the only time she and I had free to meet and catch up. It was such a great visit but not long enough!!

The usuals were out tonight plus a couple of newcomers. I hope Hicham continues to come out. He was initiated properly by getting lost on this route…I told him we all did the first time…ok, the second and third time too. Nanc is back after a nice vacation down south! It was a cold night so I think tonight’s run was a shock to her system!

I was supposed to run the first section of the route up until Amblewood at a steady pace and then start the sub-tempo pace from there. I was running with Kev at a steady pace until we turned on to Royal Oak and that’s where he decided to pick it up. I could have let him go but to be honest, I was a bit unsure of the route leading to Amblewood. We actually did miss one turn and had to double-back a bit. My legs were definitely feeling Tuesday’s track session as we climbed up Amblewood. Kev held the pace and didn’t let up and I hung on, trailing about 10m behind him as we looped around Claremont school. I finally caught up with him as we started the descent. Slaw and O’Cal were at the bottom of Amblewood waiting for us. Slaw did a shortened version of tonight’s route since he ran 33km on Tuesday night but jumped in with us for a quick mile or so as we rounded the corner on to Royal Oak. He and Kev picked it up and they pulled me up and down the last four hills on Rithetwood Dr and Emily Carr. Slaw left us just before the final hill and took a short-cut back through the bog while Kev and I ran strong right to Chatterton Way. From there we jogged the last mile back to the Starbuck’s as a cool-down. I ran a bit harder than I wanted to go tonight so I hope I get in some good recovery by Saturday morning!
