Morning Spin, Afternoon Slog 45:28
Friday, March 28, 2008
I eased into the first 5 minutes of my spin this morning. My butt muscles were feeling yesterday’s run. The legs finally warmed up and felt fine. They were heavy though the rest of the day so I was anticipating a sloggy run after work.
The drive to the lakes was pretty grim. Wet snow was coming down, with the wind blowing it side-ways and I knew I was facing a stiff-legged run. As I made the left turn into the drive-way that winds down to the p-lot, I noticed a car that had entered coming from the other way was following me in right behind me. I parked the car and looked over to see Glenn’s car pulling up right beside mine. We both were happy and relieved to see each other because we were both thinking the same thing…how can I get out of this cold, wet and lonely run? We now only had the cold and wet to contend with. I warned Glenn as we set out that this was going to be an easy recovery run for me. With tomorrow’s hill repeats at Mt. Doug to face tomorrow morning, I wanted to make sure I didn’t put any stress on my legs. He too wanted to run easily so we shuffled around the lakes, with the wet snow hitting our faces and cold mud splattering up the backs of our legs on every step. Not the most fun I have had on a run but at least we got to get a good chat in there which helped kill the time…thanks Glenn!
I did a good hour of core work after supper and then hunkered in on the couch for the rest of the night watching Lost with Juice.
