Today’s track wo was a good one. It was just me, OCal and Sean with hardly another soul at the UVic track. I ran 12 x 400m with 60″ recoveries between 1-4, 45″ between 5-8 and 30″ between 9-12. With the rests getting shorter as the wo progressed, I was to keep a controlled pace especially at the start. I was very pleased with how I ran today. The warm-up felt like ka-ka, my legs felt heavy, perhaps from the heat. Despite this, I was able to maintain a solid pace throughout and I felt very relaxed and was able to focus on my form and turn-over (as opposed to just trying to survive!).

79-78-78-79-80-78-79-77-79-75-77-71. OCal was just super, leading every other interval and ran the whole wo with me. We ran the last interval with me leading and as we got half-way around, I could hear him breathing pretty hard so I picked it up and could feel him falling back, but then suddenly the bugger dug in and passed me so I had to try and  catch him and hold on. We crossed the finish together and he immediately dropped to his hands and knees panting like a dog…it was beautiful! Ha! We are going to get him back into shape over the summer!

Juice joined us on the warm-down and then we met Syl and his Auntie and cousins at Med Grill for a good-bye dinner…looks like Syl is heading to the mainland for a bit…I am very sad about this.
