Errand Day
Monday, January 5, 2009
Today was a scheduled day off from running. I got up early and got a ton of errands done. I did some singing, then went to UVic and met with my graduate advisor who is teaching the seminar I will be taking this semester. The course will be really interesting: Classical and Romantic Performance Practice. She gave me an outline of the course and some readings to do while I am away. Our final project will be to take a work (in my case, a vocal work) and research the historical performance practices of the period it was written in. We’ll hand in a paper and present our research to the class including performing the piece with the realized ornamentations. Sounds cool to me. I went over to the bookstore and grabbed the two textbooks we’re using, had a meeting with Benj about our lesson schedule and possible recital dates, had a meeting with Brent, dropped by the Poli Sci department, returned a library book for Juice, bought some spikes at Pen Runners, stopped at the drug store, went to the bank to exchange a bit of money…and I think that was it. Whew! I did my core routine, ate dinner and was a couch potato until bedtime!
