Taking Stock
Friday, June 15, 2012
While I’ve been busy on the race circuit and ramping up Mindful Strides services, I’ve also taken some time to reflect on my path over the last few months. To me, it’s important to do this, to take stock and acknowledge just how far hard work and a supportive community can carry you.
Since January 2012, I have run a PB at the Bazan Bay 5K road race (Sidney, BC), course PBs at the Vancouver Sun Run and the Bloomsday 12K (Spokane, Washington), and a solid time at the Times Colonist 10K here in Victoria. At this point, I owe a big thank you to my coach Trent Stellingwerff for his incredible support; he has put speed back into my legs. I am also grateful to my friend and fellow athlete Hilary Stellingwerff for sharing her knowledge and allowing me to tag along for two recent altitude camps.
A nod too, to Rob Pearce of Structural Dynamic Therapy and massage therapist Kim Ward, who keep me feeling supple and free and help me to maintain much-needed balance. My three weeks of scheduled down-time is coming to a close. Trent and I have our sights set on the Toronto Waterfront Marathon this October so we will be starting to ramp up again this next week. Can’t wait to see what’s next…
