Happy Canada Day

With T over in Van for her Jonas Brothers/Girl Time/Shopping Trip adventure I had a lazy morning planned and got to sleep in some.  I did have to get up tho’ I had to get out to Westshore to help Angry Kitten with her move.  It was a quick one and after I came home to kick back some more.

Later this afternoon I headed out to Beacon Hill Park to get in a run and do today’s CrossFit WOD.  I ran an easy 20′ warm up, then did a some activation drills and a few strides before lining up in front of the Petting Zoo for a one mile tempo.  I was feeling good so went out hard focusing on my turnover and quick feet.  Everything felt like it was firing well but just as I was coming down the small hill towards Dallas, near the Mile Zero marker, my right calf started to feel off and maybe after another 200 – 300 metres it cramped right up and almost had me pull off.

I pulled it back and slowed up and that seemed to help a bit so rolled with it for a few hundred metres and then decided to crank it back up and finish strong.  By the time I hit the Petting Zoo again my calf was lit right up but I managed to salvage a 6’50″ mile and then I was limping back to the truck.  I grabbed some water then went and sat under a tree trying to stretch it out.  I bailed on attempting the CrossFit WOD, it was 3 sets of descending reps (21, 15, 9) of burpees and jumping squats, I didn’t think the calf would take it well.  When I got home I wrapped an ice bag around the calf, stretched and tried to relax it.

Unfortunately it’s still feeling off as I write this, I’m hoping a good nights rest will be all it needs…
