A woman down the hall from our office rescued a stray cat today. According to the tag on his collar, his name is Jasper. He was in desperate need of medical attention…he was lethargic, breathing hard and had a swollen belly. We placed him in a box and I drove him to the vet nearby. The vet checked him out and said he is either extremely malnourished or the right side of his heart is failing. Both conditions will cause fluids to leach out of the body’s vessels and into the body cavity. C decided to bring him home until the owner of the cat contacts her (a message was left earlier in the day). I hope he is ok. He looked so sad…it drove me crazy….
I did a solo run today at the lakes. It was raining lightly and the trails were heady with the smell of wild roses…. a very pleasant run. I wore my heart rate monitor for the first time in ages. When I run with others who are also wearing the monitors, my lousy watch picks up their HR so I just stopped wearing it. My pace was between 4:20 and 4:40/km and I averaged 134 for the entire run. I need to figure out my maximum to see if I am in whatever zone I am supposed to be in. I should read the manual sometime.
Joey gets back in five days!! It’s been terribly lonely without him. Squintch is out of town too so I’ve had very little company over this past week or so…boo-hoo.
