Mountain biking....2:30

Egan and I left for Courtenay about 9:30AM. I had made a nice bed for him on the passenger seat, but of course he wanted to sit on my lap until just before Duncan when he finally decided to go to sleep. We got up to Courtenay in just over 2 hours. Joining us there were my three brothers, my mother, and various wives/girlfriends. There was also one Doberman, one German Shepherd and one Lab cross, so even Egan was going to have company. After a quick lunch we took the dogs over to the park where we attempted to tire them out throwing a ball for them to chase. Egan made a good try at keeping up with the others even though they are 4-8 times his size. In another 1-2 years he should be able to run with them.
Two of my brothers and I then headed over to the trails of Cumberland which are some of the best on the island, for some mountain biking. We had a great time doing some technical riding for about 2.5 hours. Using some of the skills that I learned last year at a Whistler mountain bike camp, I even managed to ride (twice) a 100 ft long log that is about a foot wide and 4 ft off the ground. It was the first time I had been able to do it (last year I fell off of it in about the middle), and was the only one who did this year. Overall it was a great ride which I followed up with some Red Bull and beer when we got back to the house. It turned out to be a fairly late night with more beer and a little Baja Mocha.
